This one gets me, not so much the mess, but the noise. High pitch skirling!
Even when there's kids out in the park shrieking i could go out and end them.
A big part of the work we need to do, is...
1- recognise the triggers (awareness)
2- have something in place to deal with it
And this isn't just about kids. This is in all the different areas.
Like when i've told many guys before, when you're having a torrid time, a go to for me, is knowing there's many people worse off than myself. Not that i'm trying to belittle your problem or struggles...
Just reframe it into something not that big of a deal.
Like this one:
One guy was upset he had no trainers until he met the guy who had no feet!
Not having the trainers is still a problem for the guy, and it's fine to want better things but when you focus on the gratitude for having feet, the no trainers isn't such a big deal. Yea?
Gratitude changes everything.
So, when the kids are driving you mental. You're over stimulated. Burnt out. Not getting a moment's peace...
Try this one...
If you were 85 years old and just as you're about to die, and you could shoot back in time, to this very moment, for 10 minutes only, how would you approach it?
Because one day, very soon, my 2 boys will be grown up and away and the house will be spotless & quiet. School runs will be over. I'll have all the time to do everything i want.
And i know for a fact, because i do it already, i'll let my mind float back to times gone by.
Louis is 9 in April. The little 2 year old version of him is gone. The 4 years old Louis is gone. First day at school, gone. And Odin will be 3. I don't have babies anymore. I've experienced twice, the most magical time of your life, in my opinion, the moment your kids make that first noise as they're born. I'll never have that again.
The time is flying past.
Now, the shrieking still breaks my ear drums, but reframing it all helps everything else.
It's all about what we make things mean.
Messy house = happy kids playing or an annoyance. You decide.
So life is all about what's going on between our ears.
The better we are between the ears, the better our life will be!
That's what we're good at.
