Good old Bluey.
If your kids are older, you maybe don’t know who Bluey is. It’s a good Ozzy kids cartoon and there’s often valuable lessons contained, which is good considering some of the absolute drivel we’ve had to stop our kids seeing.
Odin is watching a bit yesterday and i happened to be listening in, just after i’d sent yesterday’s email about tough decisions and the edit/delete of relationships, so it was quite apt.
Bingo, Bluey’s sister was really upset, i can’t remember the specifics but it was to do with giving her things to Mum, Bluey & Dad.
And when they asked her what was wrong, they all said the same thing to her;
But you said yes.
And we do this all the time.
We say yes, when we should be saying no.
I’ve done this. Inside me is screaming NO while i’m saying yes. Then walking away, you’re asking yourself why the fuck did i say yes.
It kills your energy. It spreads you thin. It breeds resentment. And in some cases, much, much worse.
A lot of the troubles our guys come through the doors with could’ve been eased with saying no.
It feels good to say yes, especially for those who like to help others but before long, it often turns out, you let your mouth overload your back.
Early on in my personal development journey i heard it from different people;
Get good at saying no!
But many can’t. Get bullied into it, or maybe it’s the thought of the perceived confrontation when you say no.
You can say no without having to explain yourself, or feel bad about it.
It’s also much easier to say no, when you have a plan. When you have clarity on what you want from your life.
When you start to work on your meaningful mission, no is easier, and you don’t get dragged from pillar to post by different people and different things, all wanting a piece of your time.
It’s always your choice.
