5@6for7

 February 19, 2025

In 2021, i did the Goggins Challenge. 4x4x48.

Run 4 miles, every 4 hours for 48 hours. That's 12 runs in total.

It was good.

For someone like myself, already in the habit of doing difficult shit, pretty fit, mentally tough & disciplined. It wasn't the challenge i can imagine it being for some.

I did every step alone & with no headphones. Just me & my thoughts.

That said, there were a few tough moments. 1 in particular, where i nearly quit.

And a few sleepy, emotional runs where i cried all the way round.

A great event, where you'll find out a lot about yourself.

So when it was done and the dust had settled, i reflected back on it all and i thought about how i could use the challenge type event to help in everyday life.

As good as the Goggins challenge is, it's a short, full on burst for a weekend.

I wanted to do it longer term.

I created the 5@6for7!

5km @ 6am for 7 days.

Walk, run, cyle. Whatever.

That's what works for me and helps me hit some targets i'm after. Rise @ 5. It gets my 10k steps in for the day and crosses off the CV workout.

You can play about with the numbers to suit you, too. Maybe you want to do it for 5 days.

I've also done year long challenge events. I love the discipline of it.

In 2024, i did 100 press ups, hit 10k steps & drank zero alcohol. Every.Single.Day.

That's our whole point of everything inside of Dads on Fire. It's all tweaked to you.

So get after it.
